Amanda Castillo's daughter will enroll in first grade at Promesa next fall. She spent the day volunteering with other parents and community members on the structure that her daughter will eventually play on.
"I wanted to give back to my community, and also, this is really fun," Castillo said. "I'm very happy they're (bringing the charter school here). I want to prepare her more for the future."
Nearly 200 volunteers signed up to help build the "playscape," which was funded by Dr. Pepper Snapple Group's
